WEST END OF "THE VIRGIN" (a.k.a. Calle Mare De Déu)
The second largest concentration of bars, extends from the west end of Calle de La Virgen.
This area tends to get busy as the street quietens down and many will stop off, to trap off, or re-group before continuing up to Anfora. It is definitely the one place where the clubbers will meet the pubbers.
The area has changed considerably in the last seven years, benefiting from the rebuilding of almost all pavements and renovation of many of the older buildings (drag queens with broken ankles would be no more - if they could now just be kept off of the podiums in Space).
This progressive gentrification has produced some casualties, in particular, an emergency access road was built over some of the largest and most impressive bar terraces in Ibiza. Does anyone have pictures?
The bar owners responded by extending the interior of their bars and adding air-conditioning, additional bars and in one case a restaurant.
With the arrival of the Soap Boys taking over Incognito, and Lolas, and the change of ownership of Angelo's, this whole corner has been reinvigorated, and is possibly one of the busiest areas in town.
Numerous restaurants and bars opened up on Calle de Passadis the road (alleyway) connecting Calle de La Virgen to the Dôme Bar.
The main bars in the west end tend to be larger and more fashion/club orientated. The Dôme has become a legend in its own lifetime (its opening party consisted of one table, two staff and three punters), and has quickly grown to provide something that was missing from the scene in Ibiza. A very mixed 'in' bar (try not thinking 'trendy'), where visitors and the island's club staff and their friends like to hang out.
