For years I could be found wondering around asking 'what happened to ANGELS?' Needless to say the only response I ever received was 'what the hell are you talking about?' or for those that did know, 'who gives a damn?'
But there was, in the early 90's a second club offering an alternative night of extended dancing and drinking to the GAY crowd in Ibiza town, (well over the road from PACHA and looking towards Ibiza Town).
All I can remember is a slide down into the club, dancing on a podium for a few hours (until I was sober enough to climb down.) Anyway, it closed, just as quickly as it opened, and left a few of us in a daze, and Ibiza with Anfora...
Ok, so fast forward to a couple of years ago, and after a shaky re-opening around 2002, a popular and growing 'once a weeker' in the form of Gorgeous (on Fridays) it closed again.
In 2005 it was reopened by new management as PENELOPE - who attracted back Gorgeous and took in Scandal, it was difficult to avoid being given a free entry wrist band some weeks, so party nights were very busy. (I did ask around regularly, and I don't think I met anyone who ever paid to get in.)
Any way it closed for 2006, and has now being bought by HEAVEN, of London fame...
