IBIZA
Until recently Ibiza had always been a pretty laid back kind of place, with little need for the kind of regulation necessary in most of the cities throughout Europe. Quite simply Ibiza has never had that much of a problem with anything.... Until apparently now. There appears to be a regulation for everything, many unwarranted, some blatantly raising revenue and some enforced as and where suits, with just a little bit of a vindictive edge.
Local politics generally made little difference to visiting tourists, apart from street signs occasionally changing names, but now you may often find your favourite bar with no music for a day or two, or a club closed down for a night or two and you will not, if you are staying in Ibiza town, be able to hire a car and park without finding a fine on the window screen or that it has been towed away.
The latest casualty in Ibiza town is harbour front, which has now become a passenger only area, removing most of the charm of sitting in the harbour front.
Now you are treated to a row of delivery trucks queuing up for the ferry, a dirty glass and concrete wall and if you are very unlucky, a collection of waste bins between you and the sea. Why not just move this dock to the other side of the harbour, where there was already a security fence....
But enough moaning - Thatcher eventually was stabbed in the back by her own party.
This section will soon also include a list of the local festivals... For all of you who like a good firework display.
