Strangely this was one of the first places that I wrote about for this site, having spent many an hour in the bar waiting to pick up my keys for the hotel or apartment, needless to say this often involved a drink or two...

What is strange, is that I am stupid enough to leave the page there for years without a link to it.

The restaurant is owned and managed by Tony, and it doubles as a reception for Pepita's apartments and the Navila Hotel. This gives rise to a busy, more 'lived in' feeling to the restaurant, not found anywhere else in the Dalt Vila.

Specialising in fish and paellas, you will not go far wrong with either, or with the generous lumps of cow which are also served up.

El Portalon sits right at the bottom of the stairs that lead up to Anfora, so it is easy enough to find your way to and from. The restaurant has a large interior that is missed by most unless they are dining throughout the winter, and an even larger terrace that is always busy and lively through the summer season.

There is an extensive wine list to choose from, or you can leave the choice to Tony.
