Il Pavone is a busy Italian restaurant, with a front, inside and back passage - which is what you are most likely to notice the place when walking down Calle De La Virgen. It is the first restaurant on the left just around La Nada.

With four or five tables out on the terrace, the restaurant can be a great place to stop and watch who is on their way down the street, and then to time your exit for their return back up the street.

It is not unusual to spend three to four hours on dinner, as you spend so long chatting to those passing, you never have chance to eat. The street is also just about at its narrowest here, so you may feel hot, cramped and claustrophobic. If you want to avoid the social side of this restaurant, sit inside, where you will find the whole experience much more intimate.

The food, wine and service are generally very good.

FYI We were informed at the start of 2006 that they did not want to keep gay maps for their customers that advertised any other restaurant.
