CHARTER FLIGHTS Before we get into Holiday Cahrters' as in the TUI kind, for those of you looking to charter your own Privae Jet to Ibiza, check with Eventosgay.com (fill the enquiry form out) for current prices.
If you are wanting to join 200 others, on a charter holiday flight, these are generally available for 7/14 nights and the tickets are changeable once booked. They tend to be full of screaming kids, or groups of 'teams' wearing home made t-shirts declaring their holiday allegiance and alternate egos. Charter flights do fly directly to Ibiza and are mainly available from Holland, Germany, Italy and most UK airports (regional sheds). The sheds tend to provide cheaper night flights, or disproportionately expensive day flights.
Over the past few years, charter holiday companies appear to have improved at planning their flight schedules - and have quite dramatically cut back on the length of the operational season, and the number of flights each week. So, if you book in advance, you will be able to find a seat but, with less over-capacity, there have been considerably fewer late offers at a low price.
Internet ticket shops are a good place to easily find the cheapest fares on offer at any particular time, expedia, opodo, lastminute and travelocity always have a comprehensive list of cheap seats available from all over the UK.
Many other Internet sites are available.
If you go by charter and want to change your return to one earlier than booked, officially you are stuffed (this is, of course, not true).
You can change a charter ticket by :
A] Lying. Tell your rep a pack of lies and get on a flight for an earlier flight back on your original airline. They call it standby. (Or really frighten them and tell them the truth.)
B] Go to the airport, and ask at any of the charter desks for a standby. They will charge you between £65 and £120, depending on the season. This is, of course, 'not allowed', as they are only able to transport people who have bought a package holiday.
 C] Pop into any Spanish travel agent (there are dozens of them). ABRA tours are recommended in Figueretes as they are patient, speak English and smile a lot, and they will book you a 'Happy Holidays' ticket, one-way to the UK, usually on any available charter flight, for between £45 and £95 (these are last years prices, based on season/availability).
D] Book a scheduled flight home (see scheduled flights).
If you really need to get home, and there are no direct flights available, consider flying via any other European city with flights available from Ibiza. Holland/Germany/Spanish/UK mainland.
If you want to stay longer, the above points are also true.
But: In high season, make sure you have a new, confirmed return and accommodation, before you miss your original flight home. You could be stuck with nowhere to stay, and no way to get home for a week or so.
