GETTING THERE
Most of the information in this section is generally valid for travel to Ibiza from within Europe. (As I tend to 'live' in the UK, there is more on UK related travel.)
Given the high number of charter and 'low cost' flights to Ibiza during the May-October period, travelling via the UK can be the most cost effective way of reaching Ibiza from the rest of the world. Germany also has a considerable numbers of charter and 'low cost' flights to Ibiza. If anyone over there knows of a gay travel agent that they can recommend, get in touch and let us know.
If you are travelling from outside Europe, travel to the UK and then book a UK charter flight, or even a package holiday to Ibiza. This can cost you less than a scheduled flight from within Europe to Ibiza.
In the high season, (July/August) accommodation is very difficult to find in Ibiza. You must book early, It is amazing how many people can be found walking around Ibiza town at night with luggage tht are unable to find a room. - Out of season it is not a problem.
Arranging your holiday:
• Travel independently
• Use a GAY holiday company
• Use a mainstream holiday company
• Missed Flight?

Travel independently
Book your own flights/ferries and accommodation.
This is a lot more fun if you know where you are going, or like some feeling of adventure (okay, so its not exploring a South American jungle, although if it is your first time, and especially if you are only going for a weekend, it can be stressful). If you want something special get a group of friends together and rent one of the quality villas through eventosgay.com Most of the villas are stunning, and if 8 of you are going it can cost less than a package holiday.
Flights:
If you are going to relax, forget short haul night flights, they are hell, and will make you ill. No sane person should support the short haul night flight business.
If you are generally so off your face that you don't know what day it is, never mind the time, you can save considerable money taking a night flight. NOTE 1 - If you arrive in Ibiza at 3am, you may well wait hours for a taxi.
NOTE 2 - (I do not know why this annoys me but it does.) Night flights do not give you an extra night out on your last day, you just make up for the night you missed the day you arrived.
Schedule & Charter flights are available to Ibiza.
See the alternative transport section for train/ferry information.

UK based Gay holiday companies
(Please let me know of companies that you can recommend in your country)
The main UK based gay holiday companies featuring Ibiza, who will sell to anyone are:

Gay package companies are great for first-timers, if travelling alone, or if you just don't want the aggravation of arranging your own holiday.
The UK companies offer similar products, some have transfers included, some give you the option. All appear to use the same or similar collection of flights, and generally had the same tired accommodation on offer, with the occasional addition of some more interesting alternatives.
Booking with gay companies should ensure that you will be staying somewhere where the staff will be gay-friendly (i.e. will not look nonplussed when you take some trade back to your room), and where there are other gay travellers to socialise with, otherwise what is the point?
A real benefit from using a gay company is exclusively gay accommodation, but this is in short supply in Ibiza, and certainly none of those currently available offer the feeling of a 'hideaway' like Los Tucanas or Villas Blancas in Gran Canaria (but then again you are not stuck in Gran Canaria!). - Note: The Marigna is the only traditional 'gay hotel' in Ibiza, with one or two gay guest houses/villas dotted around the island which I have never managed to book in to.

General holiday companies.
Much of the holiday accommodation in Ibiza is pre-booked by straight package holiday companies. a lot of it has been bought out as all inclusive resorts. You may have to use them to book a particular hotel.
You may well be on the same flights as the gay companies use (if you take a day flight), you will have a wider choice of accommodation, and you are bound to spot other gay travellers in your accommodation.
If you are not sure what is where in Ibiza, use a gay travel agent.
IF YOU ARE STAYING IN/NEAR IBIZA TOWN - Resort staff tend to be gay, or very gay-friendly anyway. San An is not recommended, if you want to do anything but socialise with straight friends, but there are more and more gay friendly places appearing.
For some reason, in the UK it is usually cheaper to buy holidays/flights with travel agents, rather than direct with the holiday company...
The current 'scam' by the mainstream tour holiday companies, is to show basic component prices, excluding in-flight meals, airport security, transfers, and ticketing charges. This is pissing off the travel agents, and the on-line last minute bargain holiday retailers, as the additional (mandatory) charges can double the price of a supposed bargain.
Missed Flights:
If you miss a flight due to breakdown or late arrival of connecting public transport (train, bus, taxi, plane) your insurance may cover you. Give their help line a ring for assistance.
All other help is totally dependent on the mood of the staff dealing with you at the time. Some can be friendly, helpful and charming, helping sort as much as possible out, with the minimum of fuss. the rest tend to be cunts, stuck in a job that they should not be doing.
Scheduled carriers, will usually put you on the next available empty seat as a standby passenger, Iberia and KLM have previously been very understanding and helpful. The budget airlines and for some reason, British Airways, tend to be much happier if you but a new ticket, although easyjet will now put you on the next available flight for £30.00 ish) whatever the circumstances.
On charter flights, you will have to go to your carriers, and hope they can sort it out, but remember, you may be insured against missed flights, so ring your insurance company help line.
I
If departing from the UK, if you miss you flight, a company called 'Skybreak' tel : 01273 878300 can arrange alternative/standby flights, overnight hotel accommodation, lounge passes etc. Worth checking out at a time when you will be most stressed.
Check that they will work directly with you insurance company.
Don't forget most travel agents in Ibiza sell one way charter flights back to most European countries. Prices vary, but it is generally cheaper than a last minute scheduled flight.
