Ibiza Villas Hotels and Apartments - STAYING THERE -
Villas must be the first choice if there are a group of you travelling to Ibiza, do not waste you holiday cramming your-self, three tuns of luggage and ten friends in to a tourist hotel, spending two hours every morning, traipsing to the beach in search of a sun bed. Grab yourself a villa, with pool, a whole lot of style and live a little, in fact go and live a lot.
Villas in Ibiza are in relatively short supply, as they become more and more popular their owners allegiance to any particular agent changes as often as the average drag queens wig, so they can be difficult to track down. There are now hundreds of 'agents' on the web.
Some of the most stunning villas on the island are available through eventosgay.com.
On my last 'troll' around the internet, it appears that companies based in the USA, or aimed at American tourists, are still charging much more, for much less, so if you are travelling from the US do not settle on the first agent you find.
If you are planning to book a villa, pay by credit card and get everything confirmed by fax.
There are less and less tour operators offering villas in Ibiza, and many of the package companies are now starting their programme in June, so early season offers on villa rentals are much harder to find.
The gay scene is quiet in early season, but it is a great time for exploring the island, inviting all of the islands staff for a BBQ, and making your own fun. Which is one thing you can do in your own villa without annoyance from anyone.

If you have stayed or are planning to stay in any of the hotels / apartments featured on this site, please send us your comments/views or notification of any changes that you may be aware of. (Additions to those listed here are also very welcome.)
The following pages should point you in the right direction, for gay and gay friendly accommodation, or that popular with gay travellers.
It used to take to take a fair amount of ringing about to book accommodation direct with the management, agents or the owners. It was fun, but now most of the accommodation featured in this section is bookable on-line at any number of hotel reservation systems. Just type in the name of the hotel into any search engine.
Ibiza Town offers everything from hostels with shared bathrooms, to 4-star hotels, ranging from €14 to €230 per night to Villas costing 1000's a week. Your priority may be quality, the ability to take people back, economy, peace and quiet, or style and location. One priority may negate another, in terms of what is on offer. But note: Ibiza is a long established resort and much of the islands hotel accommodation was built in the 70's. The authorities are encouraging a dearth of quality hotel building across from Ibiza town in Botafoc, but much of it is still not completed.
Be aware there is a considerable amount of property let on the black market, some is great, some of it amounts to a glorified death trap.
NOTE: Make your stay more enjoyable - if you are staying in budget accommodation without air-conditioning, invest in an electric fan for your room, (about £15 and well worth it)! If you are sharing, and are short of a set or two of keys, for the 4 of you staying in a two bedroom apartment, GET SOME CUT for €6 in Ibiza town.
The reviews posted here try to provide a realistic view of staying in any particular hotel, and all are written from the contributors' personal experience.

It is always worthwhile looking for accommodation for your next holiday while you are actually there (shagging in your trade's apartment rather than your own, is a great way to discover new properties).
Look around the town, and ask people you meet.
The Spanish tourist board publish a booklet detailing every resort, and most of their hotels/apartments, (address, telephone number, facility offered, and price range.)
Give them a ring in your country, for a copy of the hotel directory for Ibiza (the UK Tel: +44 (0)20 7486 8077 - FAX: +44 (0)20 7486 8034, or call in at 22 Manchester Square, London W1M 5AP.)
When booking accommodation direct, get the hotel to fax you a quote, and a faxed confirmation once you accept. You will have to provide a credit card number to secure the room. Make sure the cancellation terms are printed on your confirmation fax.
Any number of organisations may be able to offer discounted rates on accommodation that you may be interested in. Try the following:
• Amex travel service - offer better discounts on quality hotels. They can usually find accommodation on difficult dates (i.e. when everyone else says 'you have to be joking').
•
There are dozens of Spanish travel agents in Ibiza. All act as agents for hotels and apartments:
One that I use regularly is ABRA tours, based in Figueretes, opposite the (closed) Diskont (Reopened as 'Spar') supermarket, just up from the beach and Magnus. They are very friendly, speak English, and have air conditioning should you have to wait. (Travel agents are the same all over the world.)
•
UK travel agents rarely seem interested in booking anything other than packages or flights.
•
Last minute when you arrive:
Firstly do not do this if you are arriving after 8pm, or in high season. You will have trouble finding taxis never mind accommodation.
Viajes Atalaya have a desk in the airport and sell off rooms at discount prices. Great for the first nights accommodation if you intend doing some traipsing around, asking at the hotels/travel agents/bars (staff), the next day.
•
The Internet:
A number of gay guest houses publish web pages on the Internet. Great for looking before you book. Be patient, a lot of these sites are loaded to the hilt with music, very large images and bad flash.
•
Spartacus:
Lists contact numbers for gay guest houses/hotels, etc with various degrees of accuracy. Even the adds that have been placed by the owners of the property can advertise incorrect contact details.
Long-stay
If you do want somewhere for the whole summer, the best thing to do is take yourself out to Ibiza early season and start looking. Use the local papers, to look for, or to place an ad. The earlier you take a place, the cheaper it will be, and easier to find.
As the season moves on, owners tend to take higher profit from short summer lets than long term year round lets.
Don't forget to check the Ibiza Online newsletter, and English Ibiza paper, and ask anyone if they know of anywhere. Bar owners usually have contacts, but do not be offended if they take a commission for finding it.
There are relatively few estate agents specialising in rental accommodation, even those that do, can have very little available, you do need to be lucky.
